Obituary for William Benedict Sr.
William Porter Benedict Sr. 68, of Eatonton passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2012. Mr. Benedict was born on February 8, 1944, to Buna and Doris Banks Benedict and was a native of Atlanta, Ga. and served in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964. On January 8, 1965, Mr. Benedict married Carol Ann Hancock, and in 2000 they moved to Eatonton, Ga. Mr. Benedict was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Conyers, and a member of Lake Country Baptist Church of Eatonton. Mr. Benedict enjoyed camping because of his passion for the outdoors. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 4th at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel from 6 to 8 PM. Services are scheduled for Friday, October 5th at Lake Country Baptist Church (formally Manley Memorial) at 3:30 PM. Burial will be in Conyers, Ga, at The Green Meadows Memorial Gardens Cemetery on October 5th at 6 PM. He is survived by his sons; William Porter Benedict Jr. & wife Gwen, of Eatonton, Darren Benedict & wife Janet of Oxford. Brother; Buna Ralph Benedict Jr. of Oxford and Sister; Norma Anderson of Douglasville. He has 7 grandchildren: William Blake Benedict, Alana Brooke Mason, Brandon Ryan Benedict, Corey Austin Benedict, Brittany Nicole Benedict, Elizabeth Lenora Sorrow, Gerald Donald Sorrow, Great Grandchildren; Karter Nathaniel Mason, William Gunner Benedict.
