Obituary for Tommy Tew
Thomas “Tommy” E. Tew, 72, of Eatonton, passed away peacefully at his home Monday, January 7, 2019 after an extended illness. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 11, 2019 at 1 PM at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel. Tommy was born in Clayton, Alabama to the late Harold Benjamin and Catherine Mock Tew. While he was still able, Tommy loved to go fishing, hunting, gardening and riding around in his ATV or on his tractor. He loved his family and loved giving them a hard time. He was in constant competition with his step-son, Chad, to see who could grow the largest tomatoes and, in good fun, enjoyed teasing the grandkids about their new boyfriend or girlfriend. He adored his grandkids. Tommy is preceded in death by his brothers, Harold Tew and Barney Tew. Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Ruth Tew; children, Kathy (Barry) Jackson of Covington and Brian Tew of Illinois; step-children, whom he considered his own, Halie (Jimmy) White of Gray, Dwayne (Cindy) Sharp of Macon, Tony Sharp (Lisa Archibald) of Byron, and Chad (Melissa) Sharp of Dublin; 18 grandchildren,; 7 great grandchildren; siblings, Alvester Tew, Frank (Leola) Tew, Betty Sue Fowler, Barbara Ann Moore, Johnny Moore, and Richard Moore; and several nieces and nephews.
