Obituary for Willie Maude Carnes
Willie Maude Carnes 97 passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2014. Big Mama as she was known to everyone who knew her was born on August 9, 1916 in Eatonton to the late George Irwin Harper and the late Annie Roberta Haley Harper. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sons Charles Reid, Terry Reid and husbands M.F. Reid Jr., Ebb Carnes. Big Mama lived here all of her life and was a member of First United Methodist Church, member of the Robinson Dance Sunday School, member of the Golden Girls, United Methodist Women’s Organization. The visitation will be on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel from 5 to 7 PM. The service will be on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at First United Methodist Church, (old sanctuary), at 2 PM. Interment will be private.
Big Mama is survived by her son William (Nancy) Reid of Jackson, Ga.
Grandchildren: Steve (Lesia) Reid, Alan (Ginger) Reid, Joy Coleman (John Wilson, Joe (Gloria) Reid, Mike (Christy) Reid, Kelly Reid (Paul) Maxey, a sister Emmie Charping, brother Horace Harper, Great grandchildren: Eric (Jennifer) Reid, Matthew Reid, Kristen Reid, Jill (Sawyer) Ramsey, Collin Reid, Reid Coleman, Candice Reid, Christian Reid, Lily Reid, Katy Cave-Bigley, Courtney (Sam) Scherer, Great great grandchild Karys Gaither.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Eatonton Health & Rehab for their kindness and caring of Big Mama.
