William “Dub” Pace, 91 of Eatonton passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. Bill was born on January 23, 1924 in Excelsior, West Virginia to the late William Sherman Pace and Esther Whited Pace. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife of 66 years Camille Oden Pace.
Services will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Eatonton First United Methodist Church, Old Sanctuary, 103 W. Magnolia Street.
Bill was a United States Navy Corpsman embedded with the First Marine Division of the United States Marines Corps during World War II. He survived some of the bloodiest battles of the war, including Peleliu, Guadalcanal, and Cape Gloucester. Bill enjoyed fishing and hunting, playing Bingo, drawing, and discussing military and veteran’s topics.
He is survived by his daughters Camille Ryan & husband Jim of Eatonton, GA; Valerie Bradshaw & husband Russell of Darnestown, MD; sister Verlie L. McKinnon of Stone Mountain, GA; grandchildren Cammi R. Jones & husband Bill of Atlanta, GA; Tara Ann Bradshaw & husband Jason Newton of Arlington, VA; Jamie Ryan Pennington & husband Scott of Atlanta, GA; Justin Pace Ryan & wife Elizabeth of Atlanta, GA; and Ryan “Pace” Bradshaw & wife Kelly of Chevy Chase, MD. Bill is also survived by 13 great grandchildren and many friends who will miss him greatly.
