Obituary for William 'Bill' Dorsey
William Herbert Dorsey known as Bill to family and friends passed away at his residence on Thursday, March 25, 2010, born in Atlanta, GA, on November 29, 1947, to the late Herbert S. and late Connie L. Dorsey. Bill left the Atlanta area in 1979. He traveled doing power line surveying before moving to Milledgeville, GA, in 1983 then moving to Eatonton in 1991. He married Andrea Lou Osborne on May 23, 1981. Bill was a surveyor for many years before going to work for the State of Georgia DOT. He retired with 12½ years of service in October of 2002. In retirement, Bill was an avid gardener, specializing in tomatoes and corn. He also had a large lily collection in his yard each year. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda Sue Dorsey. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Andrea, of Eatonton, GA; four children: Tammy Dorsey and companion Walley Finley, of Senoia, GA, Deborah Thigpen (Rowdy) of Dublin, GA, David Brewer (Jennifer) of Eatonton, GA, Linda Sue Toskes (Tony) of Eatonton, Ga; six grandchildren: Joshua Foster of Senoia, GA, Robert Thigpen and Aaron Thigpen of Dublin, GA, Jordan Brewer and Rhiannon Brewer of Eatonton, GA, and Jessy Toskes of Eatonton, GA; siblings Elijah Dorsey of Eatonton, GA, Patricia Hunt of Atlanta, GA, Jeannie Shirling (Joe) of Atlanta, GA, and Robin Gilbert (Phillip) of Atlanta, GA; many beloved nieces and nephews, cousin and fishing pal, Wayne Fowler and family of Cleveland, GA. Also left are his beloved pets, Gizmo, Scout, and Lady (his baby). Visitation will be at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel on Saturday 3/27, from 6 pm to 8 pm. Services will be at the funeral home chapel on Sunday 3/28 at 1 pm with burial in Baldwin Memorial Gardens in Milledgeville, following the service. The Eulogy will be given by Pastor Jon Scott. Pall bearers will be Walley Finley, Rowdy Thigpen, Tony Toskes, Robert Thigpen, Aaron Thigpen and Leslie Fowler. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
