An environmentally friendly option
Obituary for Stanley Sides
.Stanley Monroe Sides, 81, of Greensboro passed away Tuesday, July 23rd, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, Georgia. Prior to moving to Georgia, Stan lived in Jacksonville, Illinois, where he worked at Capitol Records 30 years before retirement. He was born and raised on a farm in the rural community of Versailles, Illinois, where he enjoyed a great life with a loving family and a host of wonderful friends. Indeed, it was that environment that instilled fond memories which he cherished until his passing.
He, like most of his buddies, had a passion for cars and could tell you the exact car that traveled down the dusty road to their farm house by the sound of its engine. He could identify the year, make and model, of a vintage automobile from a mile away! He could leap tall buildings with a single bound…. Yes, he was my Superman!
He was a patriotic man. His father fought in WWI and his brothers in WWII. He loved his country and flag. He was a man of integrity and honor. He graduated Brown County High School in 1956 and attended both Western Illinois University and Murray State in Kentucky.
Stan leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years, Rosa (Paschal) Sides, and two sons, Alex and Chris. He had seven grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Shirley Moore of Timewell, Illinois and brother Graydon Sides of Versailles, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his father Lewis Wayne Sides, his mother Lucie Sides, and brother Bob Sides of Versailles, Illinois.
Stan was a member of Wesley Chapel Wesleyan Church, 2830 Hwy. 15, Greensboro, Georgia, 30642, where, in lieu of flowers, he preferred donations be made in his name to the Church. He will be dearly missed.
