Obituary for Richard 'Dick' Lee Kern
Richard Lee Kern 81 of Eatonton passed away at his residence on Friday, October 23, 2015. He was born in Mandovi, WI. on November 6, 1933. Mr. Kern was a retired Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force for over 20 years and also retired from Georgia Power after more than 20 years of service. He was a founding member of Grace Baptist Church, and taught Sunday School and served as the treasurer. The visitation will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2015, from 1 to 3pm. at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel. The service will be held on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 10:30 in the chapel of Grace Baptist Church, burial will follow at Eatonton Memorial Park. Mr. Kern is survived by his wife of 44 years. Julia Meadows Kern, Children Richard L. Kern Jr., Steve Carnes, Rick Carnes & wife Jeanette , Lynn Clapp & husband Glenn, Jan Dodson & husband Bill, sister Judy Ockler & husband William, grandchildren Kevin Carnes & wife Mandy, Brian Gillman, Heather Thrift & husband Donny, Ana Dodson, Jamie Kern, Brooke Kern, Brittney Stephens & husband Tyler, Rebecca McMichael, Crystal Kennedy, Geoffrey Clapp, Sean Clapp and 15 great grandchildren as well as several friends who will miss him dearly. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to Grace Baptist Church Mission Fund.
