Obituary for Richard Byrd Kelly
Richard Kelly 88 of Eatonton passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017.
He was born on January 20, 1929 in Petersburg, VA to the late Bert Allen and Maxine Kelly. Richard was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War; he was in law enforcement for 52 years having been a police officer here in Eatonton for 10 years.
In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, camping and especially spending time with his family.
The visitation will be on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel from 6 to 8 pm. The service will be on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 1 pm, burial will be at 2:30 pm at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.
Richard is survived by his loving wife Naomi Kelly, Son Richard Kelly (Alicia) of Newman, daughters Michele Merritt (Ken Taylor) of McDonough, and Janet Fugett of Athens. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations in his memory can be made to C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors), P.O. Box 1237, Grey, Georgia 31032.
