Oliver Max Ramsey Sr. of Clover, SC passed on January 2, 2024, at his residence. He was born on April 24, 1930 in Cleveland Co NC to Samuel Buster and Hattie Morris Ramsey. His family relocated to Hillsboro, Georgia area and later made his home in Eatonton, Ga for over 70 years. He retired from Hercules in Covington, Georgia and was also a veteran from the Korean War, and continued to serve his country in the Army National Guard, after returning from the Korean War, until his retirement in 1990. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters Ann R. Benton and Nellie R. Moore and brothers Samuel Ramsey and Robert Ramsey, and grandson Wesley Adam Ramsey. He relocated to Clover, SC seven years ago to live with his daughter.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel from 5 to 7 pm, the service will be on
Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel at 11 am.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years Ida Harper Ramsey, son Oliver Ramsey (Vivian) of Covington, Georgia, daughters Tammy Semmler (Stan) of Gordon, Georgia, Penny Mazzola (Mike) of Ormond Beach, Florida and Elaine Sommer (John) of Clover, SC.
He has 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He enjoyed gardening with his wife Ida and he enjoyed telling stories and driving the large cargo trucks while in the military.
