Mell Walker Sammons, better known as “Curly”, passed away April 14, 2021 at the age of 67, in his hometown of Eatonton, Georgia. Although he battled with medical issues the past few years, his smile remained steadfast, as did his faith in God and his love for country. Throughout his life, Curly sought adventure and traveled near and far aiming to make the most of every opportunity life presented. Spirited in nature, he enjoyed the company of friends and family. His voice and laughter were unmistakable and a trademark of his joyous presence.
Many knew Curly as the owner of Curly’s Waste Disposal where his humor shined through via his motto, “Let’s talk trash!” To his brothers Dwain and Steve Sammons and his sister Cynthia Wallace, he was the wildcard of the clan with a heart of gold. He was most proud of his two children, Mell Tex Sammons and Dorothy Michelle Paige. Tex, along with his wife, Kim, gave him two beautiful grandchildren, Ava and Eli. He loved hearing of their adventures and travels and his heart filled with joy upon the mention of their names. His daughter Michelle, along with husband Tim, gave him two more wonderful grandchildren, Kobie and Leah. Visits with these two were never long enough and he always longed for more time to spend with them, his most precious gifts.
Curly was loyal and loved dearly. His life will be honored and celebrated Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Liberty Chapel Church in Eatonton. Visitation will be from 2-3pm with funeral services following at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Liberty Chapel or a charitable organization of your choice in his memory.
