Obituary for Mary Fuller
Mary Walton Fuller (79) of Eatonton, Georgia, passed away Friday , December 28, 2012. She is survived by her children Cynthia A. Fuller, Cheryl F. Reed (Bill), Curtis P. Fuller, Jr. And Gladys F. Crowe (Tom)all of Eatonton, Georgia; Martha F. Wood (Philip) of Madison, Georgia and Mary F. Holmes (James) of Mills River, North Carolina; her sisters Peggy W. Feist of Austin, Texas and Martha W. Darden of Eatonton, Georgia; her sister-in-law Rebecca F. Larman of Buckhead, Georgia; her grandchildren Rebecca Reed McMichael (Kim), Kady Reed Hill (Phillip) April Anne Reed, Ashlen Fuller Fowler (Christopher), Sterling Peyton Fuller, James Mitchell Fuller, Sara Ellen Wood, Annie Caroline Wood, Cate Crowe, and Mary Manning Holmes; and her great- grandchildren Clay McMichael, Walton McMichael, and Avery Hill. She is preceded in death by her husband Curtis P. Fuller, Sr., her parents John R. Walton and Gladys Vining Walton, her sisters-in-law Reba F. Bailey, Mary F. Woodall, and her brothers-in-law Sterling A. Fuller, Russell W. Feist, and George B. Darden. Born April 10, 1933, Mary was a lifetime resident of Putnam County and a 1950 graduate of Eatonton High School. She was trained as an x-ray technician at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, and she worked at Elberton Hospital in Elberton, Georgia and Jordan Hospital in Eatonton, Georgia. December 22, 1951, she married Curtis P. Fuller, Sr. In 1958 she and Curtis began their life on their farm in north Putnam County. Until 1983 she worked as a dairyman\'s wife, homemaker, and cake baker. She baked for the public for many years and won prizes for her cakes. She became the manager of the Trading Post at Rock Eagle in 1983, and she retired from that position December 1998. January 1970 she and Curtis attended the first meeting to begin planning Gatewood Schools. As a founding family of the school she and Curtis remained faithful supporters of the school. She was a lifetime member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church. Visitation is Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel, from 4 to 6 PM. Services are Monday, December 31, 2012, at Union Chapel Church United Methodist Church at 2 PM In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Union Chapel United Methodist Church or Gatewood School.
