Linwood Carnes 89 passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2016. Linwood was born in Eatonton on August 30, 1926 to the late Sidney Terrell Carnes and Mattie Linch Carnes. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Carlton Carnes (Suzanne) and Frances Allen (David).
He was a member of First Independent Methodist Church and
very passionate & active member there; he served on the Board of Education, and was involved in the establishment of Gatewood School and was a member of the local
chapter of the VFW.
Visitation will be on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel from 5 to 7 PM. The service will be on Sunday,
May 29, 2016 at First Independent Methodist Church at 2 PM. Burial will follow at Eatonton Memorial Park.
He is survived by his loving wife Helen Jones Carnes, 2 sons Steve and Ricky Carnes (Jeanette) of Eatonton, 3 daughters Lynn(Glenn) Clapp, Jan (Bill) Dodson of Eatonton, Angela (Bill) Bailey of Milledgeville, sisters Florence (Cecil) Embry, Irene (Johnny) Holt and Dot (Bennie) Lundy all of Eatonton,
13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.
