Obituary for Leon Schell
Leon Schell passed away on November 26, 2020 at the age of 86. He is the son of William Percy Schell and Lula Whitten Schell. He was born August 14, 1934.
Graveside service will be held at Eatonton Memorial Park on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 2 PM.
Leon was predeceased by his wife (Gertrude Hightower Schell) of 50 years, his son Terry Norman Stevens and grandson Vincent Lamar Stevens. Also, brothers: Alfred, Tom, Lee, Harold and Horace. Sisters: Lorena, Mary Percy, and Marian. He is survived by a son, Victor Stevens (Kay), Grandson, Cliff Stevens, three great grandchildren Dylin, Sydnie and Vince and sister Patricia Schell Bryant.
In 1963 Leon married Gertrude Hightower and became the father of Victor and Terry Stevens. He was the best husband and father anyone could wish for. In later years he became the grandfather of Vincent and Cliff Stevens and the great grandfather of Dylin, Sydnie and Vince Stevens.
Leon is a life-long resident of Putnam County. He served in the army in the Korean conflict. He owned and operated a full-service gas station for over 25 years. He was known for offering high quality service with integrity. He always met you with a smile and a kind word.
After selling his business to Jet Foods he went to work for them. He retired due to failing health in his early 80’s.
Donations can be made in Leon's memory to Central United Methodist Church, Central Road & Browns Chapel Road, Eatonton, GA
