Obituary for Laura Fendley
Laura McCulloch Fendley 95 of Eatonton passed away on November 14, 2012, she was born on December 8, 1916 in Putnam County Georgia, the daughter of the late Thomas and Nora Marable McCulloch, she was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald G. Fendley, Son Anthony Fendley, Grandson: Jonathan Nipper, Sister: Mary Smith and Brothers: Thomas McCulloch and Milton McCulloch. Visitation will be on Friday, November 16th at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel from 7 to 9 PM. A graveside service will be on Saturday, November 17th at Pine Grove Cemetery at 1 PM. Mrs. Fendley was a homemaker and also ran Don FendleyÂ’s Grocery Store for over 27 years. She was a woman of strong principles and lived a life of independence after the death of her husband. She lived alone for 37 years and was talented enough to fix anything that needed repairing on the place. She was always compassionate to children and animals. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and sewing. She received a library card from Putnam County Library when she was 10 years old and is probably the oldest living library card holder in the country. Mrs. Fendley is survived by her sons: Donald (Gwen) Fendley, Richard (Delores) Fendley, Tim (Amy) Fendley, daughter: Marjorie (David) Nipper, grandsons: Donald Fendley, Rich Fendley, Matthew Fendley, Michael Fendley, Tom Fendley, Mark Nipper and Tim Nipper, granddaughters: Rebecca Walsh, Jennifer Nash and Elizabeth McGregor, and a special foster granddaughter: Lt. Cmdr. Kelly Weaverlin. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren, nieces: Jane Coots and Rosemary Thompson and nephews: Hilton Smith and Douglas McCulloch. The family would like to thank Dr. Rakesh Kumar and his staff and the staff of Putnam General Hospital. We also appreciated the efforts of Serenity Hospice in her last days. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Putnam County Library (Book Fund), 309 N. Madison Avenue, Eatonton, Ga. 31024 in care of Pat Mason. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
