Kenya Windham Deas, 80, formerly of Eatonton, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2023. She was born in Thomaston, Ga to the late Kendall C. Windham and Muree Smith. Kenya was a teacher for the Putnam County School system for most of her working life. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Eatonton and was a lifelong resident here since 1962. Kenya was an avid reader her entire life and absolutely loved being a mother and grandmother.
Kenya was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Stephen Cantrell Deas, Jr. She is survived by her three children: Stephen Cantrell Deas, III., Kendall Deas Meacham (Doug), William Kirk Deas (Mary Grace), a brother: Jerry A. Windham, niece Britt W. Hennessey and her nine grandchildren: Stephen C. Deas, IV, Catherine C. Deas, Harrison C. Deas, Peyton L. Meacham, Cole W. Meacham, Brooks C. Meacham, Wright Kirk Deas, Emma Grace Deas and Mary Stephen Deas.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from Noon until 2:00pm, with the funeral service following at 2:00pm. Kenya’s service will be conducted by Johnny Harrell.
