Obituary for Joyce Aileen Connolly
Joyce Connolly died on Wednesday December 8th in her daughterÂ’s home surrounded by her beloved family. Her death followed a short hospitalization after a long battle with AlzheimerÂ’s. The center of JoyceÂ’s life was family. In addition to providing an ideal family life for her four children, she spent many years being a selfless caregiver for her first husband Jack Gerlach and both of his parents. Joyce remarried later in life and provided care to her second husband Harry Connolly. Joyce excelled at gardening and was a longtime member of the Toledo Rose Society. She led a very active life pursuing her many hobbies of golfing, bowling, sewing and knitting for her family. She is survived by her four children, Tom Gerlach; Sue Beck and her husband Bob and sonÂ’s Michael and Christopher; Terri Skaff, husband Les, children Stephanie, Jennine and Brian; Nancy Forrester, husband Tim, daughters Carrie and Laura, Stepdaughter Kathie Stout and step-son Craig Connolly. She is also survived by her sister Carol Nordgren. Services will be held on Monday December 13, 2010 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, in Ohio. There will be a visitation at 10:00 am followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers Donations can be made to the AlzheimerÂ’s Association.
