Obituary for John Gordon Hill III
John Gordon Hill III (Johnny), 60, of Lakeview Drive, Sparta, Georgia, died unexpectedly on Saturday, November 1st, 2014. Visitation will occur on November 2, 2014, from 4 PM to 6 PM at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton, Georgia. A graveside service will be held the following morning at Sparta City Cemetery at 10 AM with the Rev. Alan McCoy officiating. Born in Milledgeville, Georgia, to the late John Gordon Hill, Jr. and Wanda Joy Andrews Hill, Johnny spent the majority of his life in the adjacent Sinclair-Oconee area, having been raised in Sparta, where he was a 1972 graduate of John Hancock Academy, while also living for a time in nearby Eatonton and Milledgeville. His favorite pastimes were hunting and playing sports, especially softball and baseball; for many years he helped organize the adult softball league in Sparta and coached little league for several years in Sparta and Eatonton. He attended Sparta Baptist Church. He is survived by his children, Dr. Jeremy Hill (Lindsay) of Pinehurst, Georgia, Jacob Hill (Misti) of Madison, Georgia, and Ashley Hill Jeffords (Tommy) of Eatonton. He is survived by his sister Wanda Brooks (Tommy) of Sparta and brothers Jeff Hill (Kathy) of Milledgeville and Don Hill (Lori) of Dublin, Georgia and his grandchildren Madison Hill, Aidan Hill, Nichole Hill, Colby Jeffords, and Bryson Elwer.
