Jessie Raymond Harper, 81, of Eatonton, passed away on January 16, 2023. Jessie was born in Eatonton on October 27, 1941 to the late William Clark and Ida Lucile Harper. He was a member of Central Methodist Church, Big Spring #826 and Rising Star #4 Masonic Lodges, and served in the United States Army where he retired after 27 years, including meritorious service in Viet Nam. Jessie was a Social Worker with the State of Georgia until retirement.
Visitation is planned for Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. Graveside service will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Central United Methodist Church Cemetery at noon.
Jessie is survived by his wife Wanda Harper, son Christopher Harper (Julie Weems), sister Gloria Sue Presley (Cleven), niece Lynn Grant (Tony,) nephews John Harper, Burt Dodson (Joanna), Richard Harper (Tiffany), Clark Harper (Heather), Clyde Harper (Tracy), sisters-in-law Julie Adams Harper, Joyce Harper, numerous great nieces and nephews and uncle Bennie Bailey.
Pallbearers will be John Harper, Clark Harper, Clyde Harper, Richard Harper, Burt Dodson, Tony Grant, Greg Hanson and Todd Trice. Honorary Pallbearers will be Cleven Presley, Larry Bruce, Bill Sowell, Derrell McIntire, Robert Hanson and Terrell Abernathy.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Central United Methodist Church. (Central UMC, Attention Secretary, 174 Central Road, Eatonton, GA 31024).
