Jeffrey Knowles 82, of Eatonton passed away on April 20, 2024 at his home following lengthy medical problems. Mr. Knowles was born on November 8, 1941 to the late A.J. (Icky) Knowles and the late Ima Ruth Malone Knowles. He was preceded in death by his sister Kay Knowles. He enjoyed fishing. He graduated from Putnam County High School in 1960, attended Georgia Tech, University of Georgia and Southern Tech earning a degree in Industrial Engineering. Following college he owned and operated several service stations and tire stores. He went in the dairy business in 1969 and was in this until 2004 when he semi-retired. He had a beef cow herd until the present.
During his career he served on the Board of Directors of Eatonton Co-op Feed for 25 years, served on the Putnam County Hospital Authority for several terms, was on the Board of Directors at Gatewood School for three terms, was on the Board of Madison PCA, Madison Federal Land Bank and
South Farm Credit for 33 years before retiring in 2005. He loved Eatonton and Putnam County and all of his friends and family.
Mr. Knowles is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Janice Holder Knowles, sons Buster Knowles (Lynn Baswell), Russell Knowles (Dawn), daughter Beth Reaves (Scott), grandchildren Neil Harper, Jordyn Knowles, Jaidyn Knowles, Sarah Reaves, Jeff Reaves, nephew Zach Wilson (Sherry), great grand nephew Jordan Wilson. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to First Baptist Church, Gatewood School, Humane Society, or Animal Shelter.
A Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Talmo Farms, from 4:30 to 5:30 followed by a service at 5:30. There will be a meal served following the service.
