Obituary for James TenBrook
Local resident James TenBrook, 73, expired at his home in Reynolds Plantation, Greensboro, GA on Saturday, March 5th,, 2011. Growing up in Millville, NJ, Jim was quite the sports hero. He captained his high school baseball, basketball, and football teams. As quarterback of the team, he led them to the state championship, winning 31 consecutive games. Jim graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1960 where he played football and wrestled. Switching commissions upon graduation, he had a successful Army career. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Army Commendation medal upon serving two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. He retired after twenty years as a Lt. Colonel. He earned a masters degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M and a masters in counseling from Columbia University. Jim spent his second career as a facilities engineer at Gettysburg College, PA and the University of Georgia, ultimately retiring as an associate vice president there. JimÂ’s happiest memories were coaching his sons, local orthodontist, Dr. James TenBrook of Millville, NJ and Scott TenBrook of Gainesville, VA in sports and spending time with his grandchildren. His is also survived by his wife of fifty years, the former Muriel Roselle of Millville, now of Greensboro, GA, grandsons Justin and Chase TenBrook of Millville and Bailey Madison TenBrook of Gainesville, VA, brothers John TenBrook and wife Michelle of Sea Isle City, NJ, Robert TenBrook and wife Janice of Simi Valley, CA, Don TenBrook and wife Lisa of FL, brother-in-law Paul Roselle of Fountain Hills, AZ, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father John and mother Irene Ten Brook and sister Jacqueline McCall. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Millville, NJ on Saturday, March 19th at 11 A.M. followed by a reception at the home of Dr. TenBrook, 55 Deer Path Rd, Union Lake, Millville. A private burial for the family will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in VA. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
