It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of James Lloyd Clemons, Jr., "Chub," at the age of 57 on January 19, 2025, in Macon, Georgia, surrounded by his family and enveloped in love. A lifelong resident of Eatonton, Georgia, Chub was born on August 14, 1967. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rubye Harris Clemons and James Lloyd Clemons Sr.
Chub was a beloved husband, uncle, brother, cousin, son-in-law, grandson-in-law, brother-in-law, neighbor, and cherished friend to many. He leaves behind his loving wife, Shawna Clemons; his grandmother, Gretchen Jenner; his brother, Cornelius Harris (Ethel) of Milledgeville; his sister, Angela Harris Dennis (Thaddeus) of Eatonton; his parents-in-law, Victoria and Daniel Morgan of Eatonton; his sister-in-law, Alexis D'Angelo (James) of Eatonton; nephews Aidan and Noah Sinohui of Eatonton; niece Kournesia Harris of Milledgeville; aunts Lillie Harris and Katherine Farley of Madison; Lula Harris of Warner Robins; Doris Harris of Cochran; Hattie Clemons of Eatonton; uncle Howard Clemons of Eatonton; half-sister, Kimberly Rowland; and an abundance of family and friends.
Chub was known for his easy-going nature, amazing cooking skills, kind soul, helpful attitude, sage advice, and of course, his love of all sports, especially any Georgia team, professional or college. Spoiling Shawna, his wife, and the love of his life (whom he called 'Bookie') was his life's mission. Chub dedicated many years of his life to Lights of Oconee as their warehouse manager, where he was deeply valued and considered part of the family. He graduated from Putnam County High School and remained a War Eagle through and through - even while sitting on the Monticello Hurricanes side with his wife. Chub’s infectious personality made him instantly likable to all. He made everyone who entered his home feel welcome. He loved deep-frying turkeys for the holidays, enjoying a cold beer on his back steps, and singing corny old love songs to Shawna. Together, they loved spending time with their family, especially at the beach or mountains. He was a uniquely warm presence on this earth and will be incredibly missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, January 26th at 1:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. Both will be held at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel (105 Lower Harmony Rd, Eatonton, GA 31024). In honor of Chub's love for Georgia sports, loved ones are encouraged to wear attire from their favorite Georgia teams. Falcons, Braves, and UGA gear is particularly welcome.
