Obituary for Jack Crowley Clay
Jack C. Clay was born May 20, 1925 in Decatur, Ga. to the late Code and Ethel Carpenter Clay. Mr. Jack was preceded in death by his brothers Weymond Clay, Huelen(Poss) Clay, George Clay, as well as, a sister Eugenia C. Moore and his daughter Kellie C. Richards. He served in the U.S. Army during WWll and in the Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. Jack retired from General Motors after 32yrs., and moved to Lake Oconee from Stone Mountain in 1986. He was a member of Eatonton First United Methodist Church, a member of Robinson Dance Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Men. He loved his church and his church family, and had held many offices over the years. Mr. Jack worked to organize Habitat for Humanity in Putnam Co., volunteered with Putnam Christian Outreach and Harmony Community Association. He was voted Chamber of Commerce volunteer of the year for 2003.Jack devoted his life to serving his wife, his family, his church and his community. He is survived by his loving wife of 73yrs. June Clay, a daughter Torri(Craig) Frank, his grandchildren Melissa(Ben) Quick, Andrew(Kimberly)Frank, Lauren Richards, Clay(Alexa)Richards and two great grandchildren Sydney Quick , DeliaWinn Frank and his son-in-law Al Richards. A memorial Service will be held and announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers make donations to Eatonton First United Methodist Church.
