It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Garrett Harrison Shelby who left this world to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the age of 40, leaving a void in the hearts of all who loved him.
Garrett is survived by his parents, Glenn and Diane Shelby; his brothers, Glenn Shelby, Jr. (Candice), John Paul Shelby (Angela); sisters, Beth Shelby Baldwin (Chuck) and Stephanie Shelby Williams (Ricky); several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded by his grandparents, Don and Betty Shelby and Paul and Nora Wells.
Garrett had a love of sports growing up. He played soccer, baseball, basketball, and football before discovering that he especially excelled in wrestling. He won two state championships in his weight division for Windsor Academy in Macon.
He had a long career in the telecommunications field, specializing in fiber optics. His job allowed him to travel and experience many interesting cities all over the USA. Of all the places he was blessed to experience, Amelia Island was always his favorite. Whether it was relaxing on the beach, fishing from the pier, or spending hours hunting for shark’s teeth, Garrett found so much peace and joy spending time there with his family.
Garrett will be deeply missed but we are confident that he has found peace in the arms of his Savior. At an early age, Garrett had this verse inscribed on his back (Isaiah 40:31), which reads:
“But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength; they will soar high on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint.”
Services will be held at Lake Country Baptist Church in Eatonton, Georgia, on Saturday April 18, 2026, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:00.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the Lake Country Baptist church youth fund at this link https://lakecountrybaptistchurch.com/give/ and select 'Building Fund' from drop down menu.
