Obituary for Dorothy "Dot" Rountree
Dorothy Carnes Rountree 91 of Eatonton passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021. She was born in Eatonton on July 16, 1930 to the late John and Evie Carnes. She was a member of Eatonton First United Methodist Church and Putnam General Hospital Pink Ladies. She was a prominent business woman having worked at Auto Supply for 40 years. She later became co-owner with Monty Marshall. She was also
co-owner of Rountree and Holle Grocery with her husband, sister and brother-in-law Alice and Hambone Holle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walt Rountree, siblings Tommy Giles, Evelyn Copelan, Lillie Hewitt, Alice Holle, Johnnie Harper, Jimmy Carnes, grandson-in-law Al Scott and a great grandson Jon Harrison Butler.
There will be a visitation at Eatonton First United Methodist Church on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 10 AM followed by a service at 11 AM in the Historical Sanctuary.
She is survived by her son Mike Rountree (Freda) grandchildren Renee Foran (Brad), Stephanie Scott, Matt Rountree (Cathy), Chris Adams (Jill), Blake Adams (Beth), Courtney Butler (Jon), sister in law Nanette Carnes, brother in law Horace Harper, 32 nieces and nephews, 14 Great grandchildren 3 great great grandchildren and special friend and cousin Irene Carnes Holt.
