Obituary for Barbara Lilly Hampton Rosser
Barbara Lilly Hampton Rosser
Barbara L Hampton Rosser passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, February 8th, 2021 after a brave battle with Breast cancer on her terms. Following her wishes, she was cremated, and will be interred in the Hampton Family Cemetery at 167 Springs Road, Eatonton, Ga. on March 27, 2021. Visitation beginning at 1:30 PM, followed by services at 3:00 PM. The family requests that COVID-19 guidelines be observed. Born March 27, 1939 in Lamar, Missouri, she was the oldest of three children born to the late Charles E Lilly & Donna McMurphy Lilly. After her children were of school age, she worked as a Teachers Aide at Butler-Baker Elementary School in Eatonton, then went on to work at Georgia Power Company Construction Division, at Plant Harllee Branch, Wallace Dam, & Bartletts Ferry. After Georgia Power, she later became an independent contractor, working as a flag escort driver for Horton Homes, then independently for a company moving oversize concrete beams throughout the South East. She enjoyed reading, working in her flower beds, caring for her fur babies, & being fiercely devoted to the well being of her children, affectionately earning the nickname of “The Warden” Many friends & acquaintances respected her, but knew better than to try & cross her. She was preceded in death by her parents, the father of her children, Walter A Hampton, and a brother Gerry Lilly. She is survived by her children, Cheri Hampton, Gerald (Hoodlum), & Walter A Hampton, Jr., all of Eatonton; and a brother Richard Lilly of Granbury, Texas, two grandchildren, & numerous nieces & nephews; as well as Molly – her devoted furbaby. The family would also like to acknowledge her care giver, & other daughter Gay Lankford. Thanks as well to Peaceful Purpose Hospice of Georgia. Donations in her name may be made to Putnam General Hospital, or Putnam County Animal Services.
