• Barbara Zachary sadly left us on August 9, 2024. Barbara was born July 5,
1927 in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, and later married Leonard Zachary in the town of
Birch Creek, WI on September 25, 1948. Barbara and Leonard were married for 64
years until his passing on December 20, 2013. In their younger days they loved to
camp, being members of the National Camper and Hiker Association. Barbara loved
to crochet, knit and sew in her younger years. Many members of her family hold
onto hand towels and afghans that she made. They were long time residents, for 58
years, of Cheektowaga, NY. While there she became a member of the Cheektowaga
Home Bureau, and the Cheektowaga Senior Center. After Leonard retired, they
enjoyed travels to the Bahamas, Disney World, Mexico, Georgia and Las Vegas. After
which Barbara moved to Georgia and enjoyed visiting family during holidays.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Zachary of
Cheektowaga, NY, son Robert Zachary of Amherst, NY, parents John and Hazel
Ferron of Holcombe, WI, sister Dona Biles of Holcomb, WI, and brother Richard
Ferron of Ladysmith, WI.
Surviving family include children Deborah Meckler of Las Vegas, NV, Marlene
Soles (Eddie Soles) of Eatonton, GA, and daughter-in-law Mary Zachary of Eatonton,
GA. Grandchildren include Jesse Zachary (Chryssa), Patrick Zachary, Eric Soles
(Victoria), and Andrea Owen (Ben). Great grandchildren include Clayton Soles,
Brandon Soles, Oliver Owen, and Reese Owen. She also had many nieces, nephews
and friends.
A service will be held in her honor at Christ our King and Savior Catholic
Church at 6341 Lake Oconee Parkway in Greensboro, GA on Thursday, September 5,
2024 at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will be provided immediately following the service.
