Obituary for Asa Clinton Carnes
Asa Clinton Carnes, born to Tennie Lankford and Asa Joel Carnes on April 13, 1934 in Eatonton. He married his sweetheart Barbara Vining in 1960 and they were married 60 years at his passing. He served two years in the Army and retired from the City of Eatonton Police Department, serving the Community from 1971 to 1996. The visitation will be at Marshall Memorial Baptist Church at 2 PM on Saturday, March 13, 2021 followed by the funeral service at 3 PM. Burial will be at Harmony Baptist Church after the service. Clinton enjoyed turkey and deer hunting, fishing, camping, family vacations and just spending time with his family. He retired early enough to truly enjoy his retirement. He built and attained his dream of owning a mountain cabin by a rushing creek. Survivors include his wife Barbara, his children Charlotte Carnes of Eatonton, Sharon Cantrell of Cleveland, Lee (Carol) Carnes of Monticello and David (Brandy) Carnes of Eatonton. He had 9 grandchildren: Dustin and Trey Cantrell, Dana (Zach) Kelley, Macy, Noah, Bethany, Sarah, Pate and Rachel Carnes and 2 great grandchildren, MaKenna Kelley and Benjamin Carnes.
