Obituary for Anne McLeroy Bryant
Annette (Anne) McLeroy Bryant died in peacefully in her sleep Wednesday morning, April 19th at her home in Putnam County. • Anne was the elder of two children born unto Sam and Annette (Hop) McLeroy. A lifelong resident of Eatonton, Anne attended Eatonton Grammar School and Putnam County High School. After graduation from Putnam County High School, Anne attended Wesleyan College on a scholastic scholarship where she majored in music specializing in voice. Anne's beautiful, melodic voice brought her acclaim and distinction in high school as girls soloist and a member of the girls trio. Performing her soprano pieces, Anne won several regional and state literary competition trophies; she was also the state soloist for the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW of the State of Georgia. Throughout her life Anne held various positions and jobs in the local area; her most recent job being the flower stand manager at the Ingles grocery market in Eatonton. Anne's smile, good humor and charm were known by many with whom she made contact and was known by many as the "sweet little flower lady". Of all her activities, Anne was proudest of her service with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the State of Georgia. Serving in numerous capacities in the local chapter of the auxiliary, Anne advanced up through local, district and state levels eventually to be elected as the president of the State of Georgia Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. A great patriot and American, Anne worked tirelessly and diligently as an avid advocate of veterans rights. Anne's love of the VFW Auxiliary was surpassed only by the deep and abiding love she had for her family. A more dedicated and loving mother and grandmother could not be found. Anne is survived by: her two sons, Chris (Thelma Lou) and Wade, grand daughter Valerie Bryant, grandsons, Caleb Bryant, Cullen Bryant and Mason Bryant (all of Eatonton), and brother Dennis McLeroy (Linda) of Roswell, GA. A Memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, April 29, 2017 at First United Methodist Church at 4 PM, burial will follow at the McLeroy Family Cemetery after the service.
